During 23 years, the owners have transformed this estate into a permaculture of exceptional beauty. The finca is self-sufficient in many aspects. Apart from an annual run, to stock up on staples such as pulses and grains, the owners can stay here for months on end. An overall tropical feel, with frangipani flowers, tamarind trees and over 20 varieties of palm trees. There is an organic cornucopia of herbs, spices, fruit and vegetables all grown here: smoky cherry-tomatoes, elderberry, macadamias, mangos, mulberries and the amazing San Pedro cactus, to name but a few. Absolutely remarkable. Water is abundant. In summer they use around 10,000 litres daily of fresh spring water which is pumped from a bore hole and from an ancient spring used over millennia. In addition they have a back-up petrol generator that they have almost never used. ADSL internet is via radio waves and both homes have washing machines and all necessary mod cons for 21st century living.
